INTERNET EXPLORER

We recommend that you use Internet Explorer as your Browser application for undertaking this module.  The table below explains the buttons that appear on the toolbar in Internet Explorer.

Internet Browser or Browser software is an application that allows you to read pages of information available on the World Wide Web (WWW).  The World Wide Web is one part of the Internet and is where web pages are accessed.  As you read this page of information on this course you are reading a web page.  If you create a document in Word it is saved as a Word document.  If you create a spreadsheet in Excel that is saved as an Excel workbook.  For another person to be able to look at and read either of these files requires that they have Word and Excel on their computer.  In order to read this web page you need Internet Browser or Browser software on your machine.  The most commonly used Browser software are Microsoft Internet Explorer, FireFox and Opera.  If you look at the very top of your current screen in the left corner it should say what you are using.  Browser software not only allows you to read web pages it allows you to print them, save them and even send them to friends.  The most important thing about web pages which makes them universal is that anyone with Browser software should be able to read any web page created anywhere in the world, even if it is created on a completely different type of computer (for instance an Apple Mac instead of a PC).
